It has been 5 years since Goldfish launched in Yaletown. It will close it’s doors this Sunday for renovation for another resto launching this summer. Miku sister restaurant Minami
Over the weekend staff at Lumiere and DB bistro was notified they have 2 weeks left on the job.
“BC Restaurant Association President and CEO Ian Tostenson calls the closures unfortunate, but not surprising.
“It’s the economy, the HST, and the 0.05 drinking and driving regulations. And all those have taken their cumulative toll.”
Restaurant owners have been blaming it on the HST and new drinking regulations. In argument, there are restaurants in Vancouver that are flourishing and new restaurants are popping up what seems not almost monthly.
Personally, DB Bistro and Lumiere just lost it’s luster. There might have been small attempts to reinvent themselves but, nothing that really grabbed our attention. In the beginning it was over hyped now, it’s just overpriced.
Unfortunately, there are a few restaurants that I can think on the top of my head that fails to keep up with the continual restaurant trends, Cin Cin, West, Griffins oh, it’s pretty gross there.
Surprisingly and rather suddenly Corner Suite Bistro is closed. Being voted one of 2010’s top new restaurant, the sudden departure is heartbreaking.
Their reason..
“I am unable to secure a new lease. Thank you, everyone, for your support, your birthdays & anniversaries, and our community. Most of all, thank you Jason Leizert and my entire staff. I have never been so graced but for the gift of time with you all. I did my best. Thank you kindly.”
I realize some of you have purchased their Groupons, they do refunds and it’s easy and painless.
Well, we all predicted the fall of Keg on Hornby when it’s clones seems to be popping up all over downtown Vancouver. Rest assured you steak lovers they have locations in Burnaby, just around the corner on Thurlow.
My fave, Keg in Yaletown, for their gorgeous heated rooftop patio.
A must this summer and, the perfect spot to watch young, trendy Yaletown yuppies get liqoured up.
