Soft Peaks Ice Cream has launched their new milkshake menu. Six new recipes Original, Chocolate, Caramel Latte, Vanilla, Coffee, and Matcha have been carefully crafted to honour the distinctive fresh flavour Soft Peaks has become known for. Their organic milk soft serve will provide the foundation for the delicious new summer treat, along with a variety of other premium and organic ingredients. The different milkshake flavours will be offered on a monthly rotation, with the exception of the Original, which will be available year-round. Chocolate will be the first monthly special, made with Avalon Organic chocolate milk.
Serving milkshakes has always been a goal for owners and brothers Dan & Ken Kim, and they now feel that they’ve perfected their recipe. Soft Peaks’ signature soft serve, which is made fresh from scratch daily, remains a predominant flavour. Organic Avalon Dairy milk is then churned in for the perfect consistency. Other ingredients, like BC honey that sweetens the Original, or freshly pulled espresso that adds buzz to the Caramel Latte, were carefully selected for the perfect flavour balance. The milkshakes will be served in a 14oz size and will cost $5.90-$6.60.
I love a man that can cook and bake but they seem to be as rare as blackberry’s lineup of buyers. So instead, I happily turn to Mancakes, cupcakes with a distinctly manly twist, which doesn’t mean girls won’t enjoy it either.
Unique flavours that screams of Sunday football, buffalo wing cupcake with a swift kick, is what comes to mind. Cupcake was topped with hot sauce butter cream and crispy chicken sprinkles. There are 10 varieties to choose from including tequila pineapple, whiskey lime, and my ultimate favourite chocolate red wine.
You can purchase them individually at the store on Robson or buy them in a pack.

Faubourg second location just opened yesterday. I am just dying for more bakeries downtown Vancouver. Located right beside Artigiano’s coffee on Hornby. It’s a quant place to chill-out after dinner, it’s relaxing and the décor features two gorgeous chandeliers right underneath a communal table.

With a decent pastry selection, I choose the croissant, lemon tart and almond twist pastry.
The croissant dough is yeast-risen, apparently this enhances the flavor. It was fairly light and flaky, the only con, was that it could have been more flakier, felt like it’s been sitting there a while. The bottom was a denser than I liked.

The lemon tart was one of my favourite from Faubourg’s first location, so I had to reorder it.
The almond twist pastry, not what it was called was the better pastry of the two, this was not too sweet, super flaky with the right amount of chewiness from the honey. Sooo good.
A few months till 2012 comes to an end. I’ve decided to round-up my favourite desserts I have had the finger-licking pleasure to try. If you have a sweet tooth this is guaranteed to get your mouth-watering. Enjoy!
