Fable Diner, located west of Main and Broadway is Trevor Bird’s new restaurant. As with Fable, the menu will change frequently with what is locally available, but diner staples like the homemade burger will be a staple.
My experience with Fable Diner was a hit and miss. Starting with their most popular dish, the FD burger. This is a 6 oz patty comes with pickles, Fable sauce, iceberg, tomato (fries/soup/salad). There is a smaller version, the Reno burger 3 oz with pickles, fries for $8.
I prefer thick juicy patties, this came with 2, 3 oz thin patties, cooked well done (as mentioned in the menu). I was really disappointed with this burger. All I could think of was, man! the A&W burger I recently had is better than this.
The gnocchi was a better experience. The tomato bisque like sauce that went with this dish was rich and flavourful. However, the gnocchi was super soft. While gnocchi are supposed to be soft they are also have a little bit of chew to it, which was missing from this dish.
