New on the Menu at EAT Vancouver

1) The Chuck Hughes Experience, sponsored by Empson Wines and Urban Fare – Only 50 tickets will be sold to the public for an intimate and interactive experience with celebrity chef Chuck Hughes, including a wine and cheese sampling, Q&A session, photos, and complimentary signed cookbook. Tickets are $100 and the event takes place on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 7:00-9:00pm.

2) The Local Café – Five Vancouver-based vendors have teamed up to provide a local café setting within the festival: Milano Coffee, Tea Sparrow, French Made Baking, Chef Kev, and Granola Girl.

3) Hawkers Market at EAT! – With the goal of creating a market-style space for local food commerce and introducing food makers to Vancouver, Hawkers Market will bring interesting food items to hungry Vancouverites, including Sailin On’s Vegan Coconut Bacon, Living Lotus Food and Nutrition’s raw, vegan and gluten-free desserts, The Wonton Girl’s hand wrapped wontons, Livia’s Sweets, Rickshaw Foods’ Singaporean Curries, and Brown Paper Packages Ice Cream.

4) North America’s Most Expensive Water at Urban Fare – Local grocer Urban Fare will unveil a bottle of aqua priced at $2,600, manufactured by Los Angeles-based Bling H20. Each bottle is hand decorated with over 10,000 sparkling Swarovski crystals, and so far has only been produced for one customer in Dubai. One visitor will win the bottle through a contest at Urban Fare‘s booth.

5) Burgers are Big at Weber – Weber Grilling Specialist Michael P. Clive makes his debut on the Food Network Celebrity Stage to show off what’s sizzling in grills and accessories, and impress the crowd with recipes from Weber’s hot off the press cookbook, Weber’s Big Book of Burgers. Don’t miss it!


6) 3rd Celebrity Chef Throwdown – Chef Vikram Vij of Vij’s Restaurant, Chef Ned Bell of Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, and Jackie Ellis, Owner and Baker of Beaucoup Bakery, square off in challenge in which they have 20 minutes to cook an impressive dish using one black box ingredient. Judged by 2013 winner Chef Rob Feenie of Cactus Club Cafe and Ann Luu, Traffic Specialist at CTV Morning Live, only one local chef will win! The Throwdown takes place Friday, May 30, 7:45pm on the Food Network Celebrity Stage.

7) Bites presented by CTV and the Georgia Straight – Bites features a selection of bite-size offerings from a range of popular Vancouver restaurants. Take your taste buds outside of the city to Montreal with Dunn’s Famous Restaurant’s Le Smoked Meat sandwiches, or the Philippines, at Max’s Restaurant.

8) Sips and Sips Stage presented by Legacy Liquor Store, Flavours, 24 Hours Vancouver, and Mott’s Clamato Caesar – Taste some of the best wine, beer, and spirits that B.C. and the world have to offer. Learn and compare tasting notes with connoisseurs, experts, and vintners, and learn about pairings, tips, and making the perfect Caesar on the Sips Stage.
